Sex Education & Community Services
Sex Education & Community Services (SECS)
SECS is an NHS sexual health service dedicated to supporting young people aged 13-25 across Gwent through the delivery of safeguarding, education and prevention work.
1-2-1 Support
Young people can directly request 1-2-1 support. Alternatively, parents or professionals can also refer on behalf of the young person provided that they have obtained the young person’s consent.
SECS will tailor a package of care to support the needs of the young person with topics including Contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Unplanned Pregnancy, Healthy Relationships, Consent, Boundaries, CSE, Grooming and Indecent Images. We also offer support following sexual assault and counselling if a young person is unsure about an unplanned pregnancy.
A link to the 1-2-1 referral form can be accessed here. Once completed, please email to abb.secs@wales.nhs.uk
Group Sessions
SECS also delivers group-based sessions for schools and other organisations in Gwent. Choose from various sexual health related topics including Contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Healthy Relationships, Consent, Boundaries, Grooming and Indecent Images. Email abb.secs@wales.nhs.uk to find out more.
Professional Training
C-Card training enables professionals to distribute condoms to young people in their service free of charge. During C-Card training, professionals will learn about the fundamentals of contraception and STIs so that they can comfortably support their young people. Email gwent.ccard@wales.nhs.uk to book.
Young People’s Walk-In Sexual Health Clinics
There are a number of sexual health clinics dedicated to under 20s that allow young people to walk in on the day without an appointment and access contraception or STI testing. See the poster below to find a clinic near you or ring 01495 765065 to make an appointment on a different day or time.
